At Buzzkill Interactive, we’re not just making games, we’re reviving what made them great. Think raw, unfiltered fun with zero filler. We aim to blend the chaos of early 2000s classics with modern graphics to deliver games that hit hard and stay fun hundreds of hours down the line.
Our next title, Malignant, throws you into a twisted 80s nightmare full of monsters, mystery, and nonstop action. It’s fast and it’s brutal. You’re not just surviving: you’re kicking ass.
What we do
At our core, we’re about recapturing the magic, the electric buzz of competition and camaraderie that sparked when you and your friends grabbed controllers, claimed your corner of the couch, and lost track of time in a screen split four ways. We’re building games that channel that same spirit: raw, honest fun layered with creativity, chaos, and charm.
We’re not chasing trends or hollow engagement loops. We believe in games that feel crafted, not manufactured. The ones that surprise you with little secrets, make you laugh out loud at unexpected moments, and stay fun years down the line. That’s what happens when developers care about what they’re making and who they’re making it for.
This is our mission: to blend nostalgic design sensibilities with modern polish. We’re not stuck in the past: we’re evolving its best parts. Expect tight mechanics, expressive art, and gameplay that’s as fun to watch as it is to play. Whether you grew up blowing into cartridges or you’re just discovering the magic of local co-op, there’s a seat here for you.
grab a friend, pick your character, and dive in. We’re here to make games worth gathering around again. No microtransactions. No fluff. Just pure, passionate play.

What is Malignant?
The idea: what if you WERE the boss?
Malignant is a cooperative (split-screen and up to 3 players online), combat-focused game set in 1980s USA that aims to redefine the “Horde-mode” genre. You play as Professor Fleming, armed with his trusty cane and an arsenal of standard and improvised weapons, fighting off endless hordes of skin-crawling 80’s-horror-inspired monsters. Sometimes to beat the monsters, you need to become a monster. Fight through waves of mutants while collecting mutagen samples to create serums that turn you into unique mutants, each with distinct abilities and attack styles, shifting between FPS and melee combat seamlessly. Use these mutants to gain advantages in battles, explore hidden areas, and defeat enemies and bosses whilst you figure out what’s been going on at Honest Oaks Pharmaceuticals.
Objectives
– Optional randomly spawning missions and bosses. “Oh, this area looks scary, I hope a giant, burrowing, anglerfish looking mutant doesn’t spawn underneath me and try to
devour me, and then when killed drop something cool like a unique weapon”.
Or “Help me! I am also a scientist and I’m getting got by these pesky mutants, perhaps if you save
me, I will come back to your starting hub and act as a some sort of trader for you to upgrade and develop new equipment”
– Level up the professor, granting you the knowhow to develop new mutant serums
– Level up specific mutants, granting unique new abilities that can be swapped out to add some variation to the devastation.
-Explore a semi-open world filled with secrets, Easter eggs and randomly spawning events that’ll keep you busy until your next epic boss fight!
– Collectibles! Some more useful than others, from new tape mixes that can be used with the Phony Strollboy to inspectable toys and comic books (that are
definitely not off-brand rip-offs of very recognisable 80s memorabilia) and finally story driven collectibles that will help you piece together the backstory and what happened here (if you even care)
– Build up your starting hub from a desolate and abandoned room to a fixed-up chill-pad filled with game-enhancing tech, playable minigames, useful NPCs and more.
(perhaps saving those survivors was useful)
